Timothy Scharfe Obituary

On April 7, 2019, Timothy S. Scharfe, 54, of Bel Air, beloved husband of Diana L. Scharfe; devoted father of Michelle L. McGehee & her husband Michael, Jr. and R. David Scharfe & his fiancé Krysten; loving son of Mary Ann Scharfe & the late Armin Emil Scharfe; cherished grandfather of Charlotte, Lucy & Audrey McGehee; dear brother of Karen Seifert & her husband Mark and the late Michael J. Scharfe; uncle of Jordan Wilner & Jack Scharfe.

Tim was a devoted father who enjoyed sharing his passion for music with David and Michelle by taking them to concerts.  He and Diana attended all of David and Michelle’s sporting events and traveled to numerous soccer tournaments. Michelle followed in her dad’s footsteps as a soccer goalie.  Tim was an excellent goalie for Baltimore Lutheran High School and went on to play at Western Maryland College.  He was very proud to attend David’s plays and musical concerts and encouraged him to play guitar and drums.Nothing made Tim happier than spending time with family.  Sundays were often spent with Tim preparing delicious meals for Sunday dinner.  He was an excellent cook and passed those skills onto Michelle, who loved to work with her dad in the kitchen.  Tim loved spending time with his mom who recently moved to Bel Air.  They enjoyed golfing together and dining out with family. Tim attended Baltimore Lutheran High School where he excelled in basketball, soccer, and baseball. He shared his talent for leadership by participating in weekly chapel worship services, serving as a physical education aide, and guiding perspective students and families on tours of the school.Tim was an avid fan of Science Fiction and Supernatural shows.  He loved Star Wars and enjoyed going to the movie theater whenever he could.  Diana and Tim liked to travel together and a favorite destination was Cape May, New Jersey to stay in a bed and breakfast. His greatest joy was holding a baby.  He spent every possible minute he could with his granddaughters, Charlotte, Lucy, and Audrey and they adored their grandpa. Tim loved taking them to the park, baking cookies with them, and taking them on walks around the neighborhood and down to the stream. Tim worked for MCI Telecommunications for many years as a customer service and sales manager. He was well liked by his co-workers who said he had a kind way of dealing with people.  Tim received many service awards from MCI, including three Circle of Excellence Awards.Tim will be greatly missed and remembered fondly by everyone who knew him.
