Michael Tsottles Obituary

Michael Tsottles, age 92, a life-long resident of Baltimore, peacefully passed away at Morningside House at Satyr Hill on 1/14/21. Mike was a “Leap Year Baby”, born on February 29,1928 in Greektown. He was the son of the late Dimitrios (James) Tsouvalos (Tsottles) and Chryso (nee Kufaela). He was married to his beloved wife of 30 years, the late Corrine Lee (nee Mick), and predeceased by his brothers, George, Gus, and sister, Anna Vailas. In 1946 he enlisted in the United States Army, serving as a sergeant in the Philippines and as a corporal in Korea. Following his military service, Mike worked for Eastern Stainless Steel before beginning a career with the Baltimore City Water Department, retiring as a supervisor in 1972.

Mr. Tsottles is survived by his sons, James E. Tsottles and his wife, Kelly, Neil Mick and Deborah Oppenheim, and John Fuchs, grandchildren Zachary and Amber Tsottles, brother and sister-in-law, Pete and Barb Videnieks, sister-in-law Mary Tsottles and brother-in-law Pete Vailas, honorary godson, Angelo DiPasqual and devoted friend, Lois Dressel. Mike was the cherished uncle of 12 nieces and nephews and their children.

Mike was a lifelong friend of Peter G. Angelos and an avid Orioles fan. He spoke of his trip to Greece with his brothers and enjoyed sailing, playing tennis, coin collecting, and dining at Perring Place and Valentino’s Restaurant. Mike also supported many causes including: the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, The Nature Conservatory, Sierra Club, and Greenpeace.

Upon Mike’s request, he will be cremated and his ashes will be interred at his wife, Connie’s gravesite in Fauquier County, VA. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no viewing or service.

A heartfelt thanks to the staff and care-givers at Morningside House at Satyr Hill for their kindness and dedication to “Mr. Mike” and the support of his family and friends.
