Mary Kathleen McEwing (nee King), of Timonium, MD – known as Kay or Kathy to friends and family – passed away peacefully in her home on May 10, 2021, at age 90. Beloved wife of John Bruce McEwing (1929-2010) and devoted mother to Bruce James McEwing (Amy) of Clifton Park, NY, John Steven McEwing (1962–2020), and Catherine McEwing (Oliver Linde) of London, England.
Kathy and Bruce were married in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 1955 and proceeded to make their home and nurture their family in locations across North America, from Wabush, Newfoundland, to San Diego, CA; Albany, NY, to Chicago, IL; Washington, DC, to Oakland, CA; and from Lafayette, IN, to a brief stint in Edmonton, Alberta!
In every town and city, Kathy collected lifelong friends, and contributed to the communities she called home through active engagement with church, charitable, and other civic organizations. An accomplished gardener, Kathy also lent her green thumb to projects in numerous cities through her work with Garden Club of America.
A Roman Catholic and devoutly spiritual, Kathy was committed to lifelong learning about her faith and demonstrating her belief through action, including decades of service through pastoral care and as a Eucharistic Minister.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021, in the Chapel at Delaney Valley Memorial Gardens, 200 East Padonia Road, Lutherville-Timonium, MD, 21093. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Kathy’s name may be made to Catholic Charities, USA, (www.catholiccharitiesusa.org) or to Paralyzed Veterans of America (www.pva.org).
