Mary Theresa MacKnight, age 84, of Forest Hills, MD passed away on June 11, 2021, at Upper Chesapeake Hospital in Bel Air, MD. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of Cornelius and Mary Ann (Cawley) Logue. She was a Graduate of St. Hubert Catholic High School, worked for Frankford Arsenal in Philadelphia from 1954 until 1963, when she met and married her husband, Allen Bruce MacKnight.
She worked in real estate in Aberdeen, MD from 1977 to 1979 and finished her career working at Aberdeen Proving Ground, with the Directorate of Public Works (DPW) from 1980 to 1996. At the DPW, she worked with housing management until her retirement.
In retirement, Mary and her husband travelled around the world and especially loved to travel to Ireland and Scotland to visit extended family.
In 1990, Mary established the Harford County Maryland chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) after her son John Thomas was killed by a drunk driver in 1989.
Mrs. MacKnight is survived by her husband of 58 years, Allen Bruce MacKnight; two sons, Allen James MacKnight of Havre de Grace, MD and Michael Gavin MacKnight of Upper Marlboro, MD; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth MacKnight of Baltimore, MD; one granddaughter, Rachael Elizabeth Scarborough of Darlington, MD; one grandson, Jack Allen MacKnight of Havre de Grace, MD; and a great granddaughter, Lillianna Elizabeth Scarborough of Darlington, MD. She was preceded in death by her son, John Thomas MacKnight.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Mary’s life at the Evans life Celebration Home-Bel Air, 3 Newport Drive (Rt. 23 & Rt. 24), Forest Hill on Thursday, June 17, 2021, from 4-7 P.M. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Friday at 10:30 A.M. Interment Harford Memorial Gardens.
