Joan Claire Haake

Joan Claire Haake, 89, of Orcutt, passed away on February 28, 2023 at Marian Medical Center.  She was born August 26, 1933 in Baltimore, Maryland.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Thelma Robinson, her brother and sister-in-law Robert and Elaine Robinson, and her niece Leslie Robinson.  She is survived by her niece Jennifer Stockdale and Jennifer’s husband Dave Stockdale.  She is also survived by five great-nieces and nephews and 11 great-great nieces and nephews.

Joan’s adult life was spent as an administrative assistant holding positions at the B&O Railroad in Baltimore Maryland, Patrick Air Force Base in Cocoa Beach Florida, and Hannah Moore School in Reisterstown Maryland.  Upon her retirement, she moved to Orcutt Ranch Mobile Home Estates where she enjoyed the comaraderie of community until her death.  She spent hours at Orcutt Ranch in her early 80's walking her beloved rescue dog, Sam.

Joan was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles (the hard ones).  She will always be remembered for her sharp sense of humor and quick wit.  Until her 80th birthday, she was the “cookie lady” at Saint Andrew United Methodist Church where she was a member since 1995.

Graveside services will be held at  Mount Zion United Methodist Cemetery - 20901 Mt. Zion Road, Freeland, MD 21053 .
