James Smith, Jr. Obituary

On Thursday, November 29, 2023, James Louis Smith, Jr., affectionately known as Jim, was embraced into the arms of Jesus. A devoted husband, dad, and Pop, Jim’s life was a testament to love, family, and his passions. Born on March 31, 1959, he lived a life filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering faith.

Jim’s family always held a special place in his heart. His beloved wife, Robyn, was his partner in love for an incredible 47 years, sharing 44 years of marriage together. His legacy lives on through his children, Jamie, Jimmy, and Jenny, and their families, including grandchildren Tyler & Alisha, Jaeda, Melissa, Isabella, and Tucker, along with his great-grandchildren Eliana and Nova, and an eagerly anticipated great-grandson due in January 2024.

Survived by his sister, Sandy Winfield (Phil), sister-in-law Cherie Smith (Dave), and their families, Jim’s wide-reaching impact touched the lives of many, creating lasting memories and bonds. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and June, and his brother Dave.

In honor of Jim’s memory, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or H.E.R. Legacy Scholarship at Harford Community College.

Philippians 4:7 reminds us, “and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Romans 8:18 echoes the promise of eternal glory, “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”

Jim’s firm belief in salvation through Christ reassures his family and friends that they will be reunited in glory. Amen.

A memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at North Harford Baptist Church, 4008 Old Federal Hill Road, Jarrettsville, MD.
