Harriet E. Kamps, 89, of Sparks, Maryland passed away on April 22, 2022. Harriet was the beloved wife of the late Jack G. Kamps Sr, devoted mother of Jack G. Kamps Jr. and Amy Mentzer; mother-in-law of the late Lisa B. Kamps and Jeffrey Mentzer; and loving grandmother of Gerrit and Connor Kamps, and Zachary and Sydney Mentzer.
Harriet traveled from Harrisville, Michigan to Baltimore, Maryland where she began her career as an x-ray technician. Years later, she and Jack started their own kennel business. Harriet became a prominent breeder of over 200 American Cocker Spaniel champions. She traveled the country and world showing the cockers with her best friends by her side. Dogs with the Kamps prefix made permanent homes throughout the world. She was inducted into the American Spaniel Club Hall of Fame in 2010 for her contribution to the breed. Harriet could always be found supporting her children in any endeavor they attempted from showing chickens to training horses. Harriet’s competitive spirit was on display when cheering on her grandchildren, her favorite teams- the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens, and Michigan State Spartans.
Family and friends will honor Harriet’s life at Evans Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services- 16924 York Road Monkton, MD 21111 on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 from 12-2 PM & 4-6 PM.
