On October 4, 2019, George A. Lock, age 94, of Monkton; beloved husband of 70 years to Ellen Lock (nee Aist); devoted father of George Lock, Jr. (Deborah Dart) of West Grove PA; Cynthia Feinour (Joseph Feinour) of Monkton MD; Virginia Lock-King (William King) of Laurel MD, and loving grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by son David Lock (Donna Lock) and grandson Daniel Feinour.

George enjoyed a long career as a member of the Association of Maryland Pilots, handling commercial ships between the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay and Baltimore and between Baltimore and Chesapeake City on the C&D Canal. He began as an apprentice pilot in 1948 and became an independent licensed pilot in 1954, retiring in 1995. In addition to his maritime profession, he raised and sold Christmas trees for many years at his farm in Monkton, Pleasant Hill Tree Farm. For many years, he was active in the Maryland Christmas Tree Growers Association, the Parkton Rotary Club, and the Maryland State Beekeepers Association. George and Ellen square danced with the Prettyboy Swingers. He kept in touch with his Poly classmates at yearly reunions.
