Ellen Berg Obituary

Ellen Berg, a beacon of love and unwavering faith, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2024, in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in January 1958, Ellen's life was a testament to the power of devotion - to her beloved family, her faith, and the church community that she cherished.

Ellen was known affectionately to all who knew her as a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Pastor Jeff Berg. Together, they built a life full of warmth, grace and love. Ellen's legacy continues through her adoring children: Tim and his wife Jill, Josh and his wife Rachael, Lauren and her husband Brian, and her beloved daughter Joy. Ellen's nine grandchildren will forever cherish the memories of their doting Nana, whose love and care for them knew no bounds.

She was the dear sister of Marge, Bud and his wife Mary, Peg and her husband Tim, and Bev and her husband Larry. Ellen was preceded in death by her brother Tom.

Ellen was a faithful and founding member of the Forest Ridge Baptist Church, where she served with an inspiring faithfulness and a spirit of grace that touched the hearts of all who knew her. Ellen's steadfast commitment to God was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her every action and decision.

Ellen's interests and passions were a reflection of her love for life and the joy she found in simple pleasures. She was a remarkable cook, delighting family and friends with her culinary creations. She was famous for many dishes and loved sharing recipes with others. Most of all she loved sharing these dishes as her way of showing care — to serve God by serving others.

One of Ellen's most cherished moments was just last year when shortly after a return cancer diagnosis she visited the Grand Canyon. This experience, like many others, encapsulated her appreciation for the beauty and wonder of God’s creation and wonderful moments with family.

Those who knew Ellen would describe her as loving, faith-filled, and passionate. She had a contagious energy and a zest for this life on earth while always preparing for the next. She approached every aspect of her life with a heart full of love, a soul committed to her faith, and a desire to make everything around her brighter. Her passion was evident in the way she loved God, cared for her family, supported her church, and embraced every moment with enthusiasm and joy.

Ellen's impact on the lives of those she encountered was profound and lasting. Her unwavering support, her gentle guidance, and her unconditional love were the hallmarks of her character. She was a source of strength and inspiration, embodying the virtues of kindness, generosity, and humility.

As we bid farewell to Ellen Berg, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the extraordinary life she led. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Ellen's spirit, a radiant light of love and faith, will continue to guide us.

In the quiet whispers of prayer, in the laughter of her grandchildren, and in the warmth of the family gatherings she so adored, Ellen's presence will be forever with us. The precious memories she gave us will continue to be a comforting embrace to remind us of the love we shared and the legacy she leaves behind.
