Eleanor DiCarlo Samay, 78, of Forest Hill, Maryland, passed away on January 18, 2020.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 533 East Jarrettsville Road, Forest Hill, Maryland. She will be laid to rest with her late and beloved husband, Frank Samay, in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania at a later date.
Eleanor was born in Washington, DC, on May 21, 1941, to Albert and Concetta DiCarlo. She graduated from Northwestern High School in Adelphi, Maryland. After graduation, she worked at the Department of Health, Education and Welfare and then after that the Department of Agriculture, where she worked for more than 20 years, and where she met Frank. The two married on June 2, 1979, lived in Greenbelt, Maryland, before moving to Forest Hill, and enjoyed a happy and loving marriage for 30 years.
During her life, Eleanor also worked part-time at Providence Hospital in Washington, DC, maintained a healthy social life, and passionately preserved her friendships. In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, shopping, getting her nails done, and dining at all the local restaurants as well as those in Annapolis.
Eleanor is survived by her two younger sisters, Theresa Corbin and Mary Tadle and her husband Frank; nieces, Gina Tadle, Jennifer Schwartz, and Jenét Tadle; nephews, Tony Corbin and Rick Corbin; as well as other family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society in loving memory of Eleanor Samay.
