Dr. Harold Burton

Dr. Harold F. Burton, born August 29, 1921, in Monkton, Maryland, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2023. Remembered passionately as a loving family man, dedicated veterinarian, and accomplished scholar, his life was characterized by unwavering service and a warm, genuine spirit.

Harold leaves behind his beloved wife of 76 years, Betty Burton (nee Duval), their devoted children Barbara Abott (Glenn), Paul Burton, Trish Burton-Bowden (Gary), and Russell Burton (Debbie), along with cherished grandchildren Julia, Emory, and Elise.

A product of incessant learning and an innate love for animals, Harold earned his doctorates and owned and operated Towson Veterinary Hospital for over three decades. He was an esteemed figure and a source of comfort not only to pets but also pet owners who looked up to his boundless knowledge and compassionate care.

Harold’s endearing legacy of love, service, and commitment will continue to inspire future generations. His spirit remains alive in every life he touched and the care-filled profession he pursued with tremendous dedication.

Family and friends will honor and celebrate Harold's life with a Funeral Service on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 11:00 am at Evans Life Celebration Home, 16924 York Rd. There will be a luncheon to immediately follow at The Gunpowder Room, at Hereford Volunteer Fire Department, 510 Monkton Road.
