Charles Getscher, Sr. Obituary

On September 2, 2021, Charles Joseph Getscher, Sr., 78, of The Forest Hill Station model train shop passed away. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Ann Getscher; devoted father of Charles “Buck” Getscher, Jr. & his wife Katrina, Michael Getscher, and Marianne Kidd & her husband Scott; cherished grandfather of Emril and Charles Jarik Getscher, and Ezra and Viviana Kidd.

Charles was a Master Electrician for 21 years prior to opening The Forest Hill Station and served on the board of the Harford County Electrical Apprenticeship Program for many years after.  As an avid train enthusiast and collector, he opened the train shop in 1991 in the old Ma & Pa (Maryland and Pennsylvania) Railroad Station which to this day still holds pieces of the historical railroad on display. This October would have marked the 30th year anniversary of serving Harford County train lovers with a place to trade stories, add to their collections and have their antique trains repaired.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 A.M., November 10, 2021, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Hickory, Maryland. Service details will be posted at The Forest Hill Station.  The family requests that if you wish to send donations, please do so to St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Hickory – 533 E Jarrettsville Rd, Forest Hill, MD 21050 or Toys For Tots Attn: Mark Kresel – 6409 Catalpa Rd, Fork, MD 21051 (Please reference “In Memory of Charles Getscher” in letter when sending any donations). Memory tributes may be sent to the family at www.evansfuneralchapel.com.
