Cecilia Makowske Obituary

Cecilia Dolores Makowske, 98, of Carney, passed away Wednesday April 17, 2019 surrounded by Family at her home. Cecilia and her identical twin sister (Helen) were born May 17, 1920 to Lawrence and Sophia Marciniak at their home near Broadway Market in Baltimore. As a young girl Cecilia earned her spend money by cutting hair for some of the ladies in the neighborhood. Later she had other jobs including working for Diamond Cab as a dispatcher, working for the draft Board, working for Carney Pharmacy filling prescriptions and also delivering the prescriptions to the patient’s home. In addition she worked for Reads Drug Store in Towson and finally for the Maryland Toll Facilities in the Payroll Department. She grew up as a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Baltimore and later became a member of St. Ursula parish in Parkville and currently a member of St. Isaac Jogues Parish in Carney. She always had a love for numbers and kept a manual log of all the Pick 3 and Pick 4 Maryland Lottery Numbers starting with the first number that was ever drawn in Maryland. She developed her own cross reference book that tracked the numbers that were never drawn as well as the numbers which were drawn multiple times. Even though she tracked the Lottery numbers, she didn’t play. She was a member of Bykota Senior Center and a very proud member of the American Legion Post 183 Ladies Auxiliary in Parkville. She liked needle work, Bingo, Word Search puzzles and Solitaire. Cecilia is survived by her children, Suzanne Rawlings, Christine Eybs, Leonard Makowske, Elaine Minnick, Maryann Clark, Son-in-law John Eybs and Harold Roof, 9 grandchildren ( Barbara Kocher, Kelly Carl, Eric Rawlings, Brian Eybs, Steven Makowske, Josh Makowske, Nicholas Makowske, Ben Clark, Andrew Clark) and 8 great-grandchildren (Justin Warner, Ashleigh Kocher, Olivia Kocher, Emily Carl, Audrey Makowske, Zachary Carl, Lucas Eybs and Adelyn Eybs). Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by husband Leonard F.H. Makowske, Daughter Barbara Makowske, Loving twin Sister Helen M. Freedenburg, Sisters Eleanore Mabe, Anna Skalinski, Margaret Theodore, Agnes Marciniak, Brothers Thomas Marciniak, Edward Marciniak, John Marciniak, Grand-Daughter Lisa Makowske and Son-in-Law William Rawlings.
