On May 14, 2020, beloved Carole D. Hefferon passed away at the age of 80. Born in Portsmouth, Great Britain to Albert and Rosetta Symonds, Carole’s strength and fortitude were formed by the hardships of World War II where she sought shelter with her Mom during air raids. Carole’s stepfather Col. William LaBarr and Mom would bring her and younger brother David eventually back to the States in 1952 after spending time in China.
Carole would spend her formative years enjoying the peace and tranquility of the Virginia countryside where she would become an accomplished rider and foxhunter as well as a devoted champion of animals rescuing wounded birds and rabbits. Her love of animals followed her throughout her life including all creatures great and small: hedgehogs, rabbits, pigeons, roosters, dogs, cats and horses. Carole's gifts knew no bounds as she was an accomplished baker, painter, and avid reader.
After being blessed with three children Bill, Jenny and Dawn, Carole was blessed again by being reunited with her father and two stepsisters Sarah and Joanna in England. Her amazing life journey is a testament to God’s goodness; despite the hardships, she never lost her love for others and her courage to live.
Carole was the beloved wife of the late Jack Hefferon, and former wife of the late John Chambers; loving mother of Bill Chambers and wife Michelle, Dawn Leung and husband Lester, and the late Jenny Snoddy and surviving husband Allen; sister of David LaBarr and wife Julie, Sarah Pilbeam and husband Stephen, and Joanna Beasley and husband Steve. She is also survived by her many devoted grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will take place next May 2021.
The family kindly requests no flowers to be sent. Donations in Carole’s name may be made to Wellspring of Life Farm, https://www.wellspringlifefarm.org/, where a legacy room is being designed in her honor, “Mom’s Mews”.
