Benn Patrick Ayd

On May 10, 2021, Benjamin Patrick Ayd, 28, of Danville, PA, passed away. He was the devoted son of Patrick R. & Barbara J. (nee Hopkins) Ayd; loving brother of Alisha C. Eggleton & Toni; cherished grandson of Richard A. Ayd; dear nephew of Edward Chelchowski & the late Louisa, Phyllis Hopkins, Richard Ayd, Kelly Exter, Chris Ayd, Jay Ayd and Susan Eways. Also survived by many cousins.

Benn lived in Harford County for 24 years. He attended Bel Forest Christian Academy, St. Margaret School, and John Carroll High School. He studied at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, graduating with degrees in astronomy, physics, and biology. He spent two gap years working at Shock Trauma as a research assistant and for the Harford County Foundation as a paramedic.

In 2016, Benn moved to Manhattan to attend Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine. In his sophomore year, Benn received the Simulation Excellence Award at his White Coat ceremony. In 2020, he graduated with a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine. After graduation he began his emergency medicine residency in Pennsylvania.

Benn had a wide variety of hobbies and interests: listening to music, playing drums, cooking, gardening, bird watching, and traveling. He loved spending time with his family, friends, and Josie, his cherished rescued kitty. Benn was quite intelligent but very humble. He was funny, witty, and well-known for his extremely dry sense of humor.  Benn was beloved by his family and many devoted friends.

His caring spirit, loving demeanor, and gentle heart had a profound impact on every life he touched. Although Benn’s absence will leave an enormous void in our hearts and lives, knowing him has truly made our world a better place.

Family and friends will honor and celebrate Benn’s life at the Evans Life Celebration Home-Bel Air, 3 Newport Drive (Rt. 23 & Rt. 24), Forest Hill on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. where a Prayer Service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. Interment Private.
