Anthony Furnari,Sr. Obituary

Anthony J. Furnari Sr, loving son of Rose and Louis Furnari, husband of Dorothy Ursula (f.n.a. Albers) Furnari (Dot), brother of Mary Lober and Samuel Furnari, passed away on May 13, 2020.  Tony was survived by sister Mary and six children, Karen, Anthony Jr, Joanne, Theresa, Vincent and Joseph;  and son-in-law David and daughters-in-law, Lori, Christie, and Kerry; and 10 grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Stephanie, Allison, Joshua, Ally, Joey, Jr., Julia, Nikki, Bobby and grand-in-laws, Kate, Chris, and Kali.  Tony was a lifelong resident of Maryland, loved the Colts, Ravens and the Orioles and vacationing with his family in Ocean City Maryland.  He was a graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and attended the University of Maryland on a wrestling scholarship.  Tony was an excellent athlete in all sports. He was a Marine Corp veteran and dedicated employee of the City of Baltimore where he retired as a building inspector with the Department of Public Works.  Tony was a coach, referee, and mentor to young people throughout his life, but his most important devotion was to his family.  His love for his wife and children was paramount.   A perfectionist, he sought that same level of excellence from his children but allowed each to challenge him or herself.  Tony and Dot were constant spectators at the many scholastic and athletic events of their children and grandchildren.  A private viewing will be held with the family after which he will be cremated.  Once gatherings are permitted, there will be a mass and celebration of life as Tony requested.   In lieu of flowers, the family has asked contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and St. Isaac Jogues Church.
