Andrew "Andy" Shank Obituary

Andrew Gerald Shank, 71, of White Hall, MD, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 12, 2021 in his home. Andy was truly young at heart. He actively pursued life with youthful energy until the day he died.  He had a creative and brilliant mind, always taking on more projects than he could fit in one day, and he was always helping others.  He spent many years volunteering with Our Daily Bread, OLGS Cross Country Team, and the YMCA, to name a few, and was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Parkton. He loved his family, he loved his dog, and he loved baseball and football. Andy played baseball with the Orioles Fantasy Camp and JSB over-40 and over-30 leagues well into his 60s.  He was the captain of the very first football team of his alma mater, St. Francis College in Loretto, PA, a school he devoted himself to throughout his life.  He still proudly wore his old St. Francis letter jacket and bragged about the old days as if it were yesterday.  Every night, he fell asleep with a handheld radio under his pillow listening to a baseball game in the summer or a football game in the winter.  Andy wouldn't say this was his final lap around the bases, he would say he was finally called up to play ball with the big leagues.

He was a graduate of St. Francis College, received his MBA from Loyola University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law.

Andy leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Barbara, daughter Katrina, son-in-law Ralph Rodriguez, granddaughters Isabella and Reese, a sister Cindy Wallace and brothers Mark, Bruce and Michael.  He also leaves behind his best friend, his dog Yogi, who travelled everywhere with him and remained persistently at his side, even upon his death.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church 18310 Middletown Road, Parkton, MD 21120 on Friday, March 26 at 2:00 p.m. Face Masks Required.
