Alberto Aguenza Obituary

Alberto "Bert " Aguenza of Parkville, Maryland passed away peacefully,  after a brave battle with the Big C, on June 2, 2021.

He is survived by his wife Mildred, his children Kay and Paul, Karlo, Kandie, and, Paolo and Pia.  Fondly called "luloy" by his treasured grandkids Joey, Quino, Iji, Alexi, Andy, Mikaila, Jaren and Santino.  "Bitoy" to his siblings Billy(+), Flocerfida, Nancy, Baby, Tony(+), and Boy(+).  And a host of loving in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins and lifelong friends from the Philippines and the U.S.

Born on the 10th of August, 1941 to Joaquin and Hilaria, in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.  He grew up in Tondo and finished High School at San Sebastian.  He graduated at Letran College with a Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Major in Banking and Finance.  He put these to good use when he worked at Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. for more than 3 decades. He eventually decided to retire and immigrated to the U.S.  He joined the workforce at Maryland as retirement made him feel old.  He worked at Old Plastics Line, Inc and Walmart.  His colleagues and contemporaries considered him to be their leader, teacher, adviser, confidant, supporter, friend and father.

He was a kind, gentle and jolly person.  Always made people smile and laugh with his witty jokes and flirtatious remarks.  He loved family get-togethers and always made sure everyone had their fill, be it food or alcohol. Yes, alcohol.  He loved his Scotch, Bourbon, Brandy, Beer and Wine.

He was a family man who encouraged us to face life's challenges with faith and trust that through prayers, nothing is impossible.  This is evidenced by his favorite, "powerful words" from Alfred Lord Tennyson, "More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of."

"Remember me with smiles not tears, for all the joy through all the years.  Recall the closeness that was ours, a love as sweet as fragrant flowers.  Don't dwell on thoughts that cause you pain, we'll see each other once again.  I am at peace...try to believe, it was my time...I had to leave.  But "what a view" I have from here.  I see your face, I feel you near.  I follow you throughout the day, you're not alone along the way.  And when God calls you...you will be, right by my side...right here with me.  Till then, I'll wait by heaven's door.  We will be united...evermore." - Author Unknown

His body now lies in Evans Funeral Homes and will be cremated on June 8, 2021.

Family is requesting prayers for peace and eternal repose of his soul.
