Albert Johnson Obituary

Albert Martin Johnson; passed away peacefully on March 16, 2024, in Street, Maryland, just shy of his 100th birthday. Born in 1924, he was raised in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania during the depression.  Albert lived a life marked by dedication, service, and the love of family.

Albert was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor Johnson and the cherished Alicia Maria (Mary) Johnson, whose memory he held close to his heart. He was a devoted father to Barbara Lamendola (Mark), Robin Sullivan (Kevin), and Carl John (Jack) Young (Pam). His role as a grandfather was one of his greatest joys, leaving behind fond memories with Heather Malon (Brian), Lauren Churilla (Corey), Matthew Lamendola (Heidi), Christa Lamendola, Ryan Sullivan, Sean Sullivan, and Katie Sullivan. His legacy continued with his great-grandchildren, Gianna Malon, Charlotte Churilla, and Riley Sullivan, who will miss their great-grandfather's warmth and wisdom. Albert was also a brother to the late Eugene Johnson, Joseph Johnson, William Johnson, James Johnson, and Madeline Kolatorowicz.   He was also predeceased by granddaughter Kristen Sullivan.

Albert proudly served his country as a Navy veteran in World War II, a chapter in his life that instilled in him a sense of duty and honor that he carried throughout his days. After his service, he embarked on a 40-year career as a Gas and Appliance Mechanic in the Service Department at Baltimore Gas & Electric. His commitment to his work was matched only by his love for his family and his faith, which guided him in all aspects of his life.

An avid sports fan, Albert's enthusiasm for the Orioles and the Ravens was well-known among his friends and family. He found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life, like working in his garden and being the go-to "Mr. Fix it" for anyone in need. His hands were rarely still, as he enjoyed tinkering with things, always finding ways to make the old new again.

Travel was a passion for Albert, and he often reminisced about his trips to Hawaii and Alaska, places that captured his heart with their beauty and grandeur. These experiences were treasured memories that he loved to share with his family.

Albert was a man of faith, a guiding light that shone through his loving and kind nature. He was steadfast in his beliefs and found strength and comfort in his faith community. His love for his family was unconditional, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and happiness.

Living independently until the age of 99, Albert's resilience and independence were a testament to his character. He approached life with a faith-filled spirit, and those who knew him would describe him as loving and kind, qualities that he embodied every day.

Albert's story is one of a life well-lived, filled with the love of family, the joy of friendship, and the respect of his community. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.
