Leon Bean Jr. Obituary

The battle is over and the victory is won for Leon Franklin Bean, Jr. On May 15th, 2019; Leon transitioned peacefully away into our heavenly fathers arms to receive his ultimate healing, and for this we give God all the praise and glory.

Leon was born on February l7th, 1948 to the late Leon Sr. (Calvert County, Md) and Ella Bean (Baltimore). Leon was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. As an adolescent, Leon became a Dunbar Poet and developed his natural athleticism as a track star. Upon earning his diploma from Dunbar, Leon became a soldier and served his country in the United States Army. Leon had the honor of playing in the band for servicemen returning from Vietnam. This opportunity of servant leadership afforded Leon with opportunities that included traveling, culinary arts and numerous multicultural experiences.

Leon was awarded the National Defense Medal and Parachute Badge. After being honorably discharged Leon 's courageous and extravert character lead him to continue his education and formal training at the Baltimore City Community College.

He always possessed a good eye for beauty: and as a result, his charm allowed him to become a father of 5 beautiful gifts to the world; Kevin, Leon, Terrence, LaTia and Christopher. Leon married Paula Wise in 1973. Leon 's diverse skill set lead to various employment encounters along the east and west coast of the United States. After ending his tenure with the Coca-Cola Company, Leon settled in and retired as a nutritional specialist from the United States Navel Hospital in San Diego, California.

Pulling Leon away from the sunshine and the sunny beaches on the Pacific Coast was not an option for Leon. He met and married Elizabeth Palisco while residing in the sunshine state. When he was not enjoying the outdoors, you could find him is several places; at church praying for his family members and friends, in his living room enjoying a "Dr. Huxtable " style cold-cut with extra mayo and a coke while watching The Washington Redskins, or table-side calling Baltimore to chat daily with family, 1,2,or 3 times a day.

Leon' s strong will and tenacious character enabled him to fight against illness and hardships. When family members spoke about challenges , his response was often, "There's always somebody going your way.

Leon leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Elizabeth Palisco of San Diego, Ca.; 5 children; Kevin
