Eva Plude Obituary

Eva Louise Plude of Havre de Grace, Maryland passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on the afternoon of Friday, April 12, 2024, at UMMC Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Our family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff who provided such excellent and compassionate care.

Eva was born on February 26, 1935, in the District of Columbia to Solace (née Smith) and Eugene Brewster. She was named after her beloved Great Aunt Eva who helped care for her and her sister Barbara as young children. Great Aunt Eva was a loving influence on Eva and inspired her talent for service to others, the love of art and music, and the gift of presenting a beautiful table and tea service.

In 1952, Eva met the love of her life and married her sailor, John Frederick Plude, Sr. of Brooklyn, New York, on February 12, 1955. John’s twenty-year Navy service took them and their four children to many places both stateside and overseas before settling in Harford County, Maryland in 1970. In 2023, Eva and John celebrated their sixty-eighth anniversary before John’s passing on May 6, 2023.

Eva was a certified podiatric assistant for Podiatry Associates, PA in Bel Air, MD for twenty-five years. After retiring, she immersed herself in volunteering for Harford County’s chapter of the AMC Cancer Fund and her church, Mt Zion in Bel Air, Maryland. Eva also served as a Support Group Leader for the Sjogren’s Foundation for twenty years, organizing monthly meetings to help those with this autoimmune disease. Eva was awarded the Volunteer Service Award at the Sjogren’s Foundation National Conference in 2007.

Eva’s love of a proper tea service inspired her to return to work for her friends and owners of Tea by Two in Bel Air, Maryland. She continued to work part-time until her final days, at age eighty-nine.

Eva is survived by her four children, Marie Norcross, Linda Hardin, John F. Plude, Jr., and Charles Plude; her grandchildren, Rebekah Powell, Ryan Baity, Lucas Hardin, Jared Plude, and Logan Plude; four great-grandchildren, Tyberius Powell, Mackoy Powell, Elias Baity, and Ryan J. Baity; sister, Barbara Taylor Hoyt; brothers, A. C. Weed, II and Stephen Weed; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 11 AM at Mt Zion Church, 1643 Churchville Road, Bel Air, Maryland in the sanctuary (not the tent). Friends and family

are also invited to gather after the service in the tent for a luncheon hosted by church volunteers.

The family requests no flowers due to allergies. In lieu of flowers, please consider carrying on Eva’s love of service or donating to:
