Barbara Tawney Obituary

Barbara Muzzy Tawney, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2024, at her daughter’s home in White Hall, Maryland. Born on May 16, 1929, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Barbara's warmth and life-long dedication to helping others were rooted in the nurturing care of her parents, Malcolm and Lola Harbert Muzzy.

Barbara's formative years were spent in Philadelphia, where the foundational values of care and service to others were instilled in her. Her passionate pursuit of a career in healthcare led her to the University of Maryland School of Nursing, from which she graduated with the skills and knowledge that would define her professional life. Barbara's nursing career, deeply marked by her empathy and excellence, was spent at St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson, Maryland, where she touched innumerable lives as a registered nurse.

Barbara's love and influence extended far beyond her professional endeavors, enveloping her family in a world woven with strength, kindness, and unconditional support. Barbara shared 69 years of marriage to her loving husband, the late Bosley Tawney. She is survived by her loving daughter, Sandra Tribull, and her husband, Lawrence. Her spirit lives on through her devoted son, Scott Tawney, and his wife, Kimberly. Generations are graced with her memory, including her precious granddaughters, Aimee Densmore, with her husband, Mitchell and Caitlin Tawney, with her husband Thomas; her grandsons Jeffery Tribull, with his wife Jennifer, Brian Tawney with his wife Jennifer, and Adam Tawney, with his wife Megan. Barbara's legacy flourishes through her adored great-grandchildren Emma Densmore, Garrett Tribull, Savannah Densmore, Jacob Densmore, Madison Tribull, Elliana Tawney, Matthew Tawney, Jack Tawney, Marian Tawney, Ethan Moyer, and Owen Moyer and also survived by her sister, Judith Witts.

Throughout her life, Barbara was a testament to what it means to love and be loved. Her kindness extended not only to her family but also to those who were fortunate enough to cross her path. Her compassionate heart, paired with her skilled hands, made her a cherished colleague and a friend to many.

Barbara's life journey was imbued with an innate understanding that joy can be found in the day-to-day moments—whether it was in the bustle of the hospital ward or in the quiet of her garden at dawn. She exemplified the belief that life, no matter its trials, is a gift to be treasured and shared with others.

In every chapter of her storied life, Barbara sowed seeds of generosity, wisdom, and love. Her remarkable ability to balance a demanding career with the various roles she played within her family will remain an inspiration to all. Those who knew her will attest to the vibrancy and resilience she possessed—qualities that only seemed to strengthen as she gracefully embraced the role of matriarch in her family's lineage.

As we bid farewell to Barbara Muzzy Tawney, we celebrate the profound impact she had on our world. Her passing leaves a legacy of service and kindness that will undoubtedly ripple through generations. We hold onto the treasured memories, the lessons imparted, and the enduring love she shared. Barbara's chapter on earth has come to a close, but the story she authored, a narrative of devotion, humanity, and grace, will forever be cherished by her family, her community, and all those she cared for throughout her venerable life.
