Born: November 10, 1961
Died: December 09, 2012
On Sunday, December 9, 2012, John B. Limmer, III, 51, walked peacefully into the arms of Our Lord while doing what he did best and that was helping other people. He loved to help people in need and would give the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it. If you asked him to do something for you, he would cheerfully answer with “Sure” and you knew it would get done right away. John had a heart the size of Texas. A carpenter by trade, he was born on November 10, 1961, and was an avid Thrift Store shopper who took great pride in all of his treasure hunts. He considered everything he found to be unique and precious to him. He will be greatly missed by all.
John graduated from Bel Air High School in 1979. He was in a serious car accident in 1980 and endured much suffering and many hardships. He overcame all of it with the help of God and his loving family. He had a short term memory loss from the accident, so he called the ladies he met “darlin’” and “sweetheart” because he couldn’t remember their names! He loved his family more than anything in life. He also loved animals and would identify them and give the family a lesson on the life of that animal. He liked to fish, scuba dive and especially loved his canoe. John was always collecting his “treasures” that he would find at the Mission or along the side of the road. His dream was to one day own a 351 Shelby Mustang. While he worked towards that goal, his dream never came true. He’s probably driving one in heaven right now. His ultimate trademark was his hat! Everyone knew him by that hat and he was so proud of it!! People would always comment how much they liked that hat which gave him great pride. He was such a character; he left lasting impressions on everyone he met!
John had 3 nieces and 2 nephews. He also had 2 great-nieces and 1 great nephew. He loved to listen to their stories. John loved to share anything he had learned about animals and living in the wilderness with them. He was a great teacher, so patient and kind. He taught them anything they wanted to know from canoeing down Deer Creek to cleaning a fish.
He is survived by his mom, Miriam Limmer, sister, Donna M. Sheets and husband Jerry of Charlestown, and brother, Michael E. Limmer and wife Linda of Whiteford. His nieces are Jennifer N. Greene, Angela M. Gates, Michele L. Limmer and nephews Michael E. Limmer, Jr. and Tyler L. Sheets. He loved the innocence of his great nieces and nephews, Hannah M. Gates, Caleb M. Gates and Kamber Kalia-Marie Rehm. John was preceded in death by his father, John B. Limmer, Jr. within the last six months.
A Memorial Service in his memory will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Hickory, MD at 10:00 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 533 E. Jarrettsville, MD 21050-1603.
