Charles "Charlie" Jonathan Neave

Born: April 07, 2000
Died: December 02, 2012

On December
2, 2012, Charles "Charlie" Jonathan Neave passed away at the all too
young age of twelve years old. Charlie's death followed a period of illness
against which he showed extraordinary courage and strength. Charlie was an
inspiration, and in his short time, he most definitely lived. Enrolled as a
proud Galleon at the Odyssey School, Charlie was curious and loved to learn. He
took pride in his work and was as persistent as they come. Respectful, helpful,
playful, and often hilarious, he was a joy to teach in the classroom and coach
on the field, be it soccer, basketball, football, or lacrosse. Charlie loved
sports, playing and watching. A more loyal NY Jets fan does not exist, and
Charlie was known to convert his friends, even in Baltimore, to cheer for the
Jets. But when it came to the teams of his friends and family, Charlie was all
about keeping it local. To him, spectating was not a spectator sport, and being
a team player extended to those on the sidelines. To his family and friends,
Charlie will always be remembered as someone for whom an Uno game was never too
long, a pig-pile was never too high, game scores and schedules should always be
known, having a catch or shooting baskets was what you do, and jokes or funny
antics only get better with frequent and repeated use. He, along with his smile
and cheer, will be deeply and forever missed. Charlie is survived by his mother
and father Elizabeth and Jonathan Neave, his brother Spencer, grandparents
Deborah Kotchen and Michael Leahy of Stonington, CT, Linda Neave of Norwalk,
CT, Sandy and Lynne Neave of New York, NY , Patricia Kotchen of Santa Ynez, CA,
and many other members of his family and friends who loved him dearly and will
carry his spirit forward.

There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, December 5 at 3:00 PM at the St.
Paul's School Chapel, 11152 Falls Road, Brooklandville, MD. Donations in memory
of Charlie Neave can be given to The Odyssey School, 3257 Bridle Ridge Lane,
Stevenson, MD, 21153 (tel: 410-580-5551).
