U.S. Veteran

On Friday, November 23, William James "Jimmy" Dee passed peacefully. The beloved husband of Ruth Elizabeth Dee; devoted father of Ruth Gaare Bernheim (Joe), Pat Dee and Mike Dee (Karen); brother of Ida Davison, he is also survived by 7 grandchildren Jean Eby (Josh), Kari and Megan Gaare, Julie and Ryan Jones, Spencer and Tommy Dee; and two great grandchildren Brader and Isabel Eby; and by close family member John Gaare; predeceased by his parents Timothy and Ida Dee and his sister Helen Kronner. Born on May 17, 1926, Jimmy was raised in the Govans neighborhood of Baltimore City. He was a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph High School and the University of Baltimore. Jimmy was a Baltimorean for the majority of his adult life. Following his service in the Navy in World War II, he worked for the Bruning Paint Company for over 40 years, residing with his family in Parkville for 25 of those years. Jimmy had a love for boating and the Chesapeake Bay, which he fondly referred to as the "land of pleasant living". Following his retirement in 1992, Jimmy and Ruth split their time between the white sands of Florida's gulf coast and Charlottesville, Virginia. The footprint of Jimmy's friendships extends across the country from New England to Florida to Southern California. He was a man of deep faith who looked upon his relationships with other people - family, friends and even perfect strangers - as the central element of living a happy and rewarding life.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Evans Funeral Chapel 8800 Harford Road, Baltimore, MD 21234 (410-665-9444) from 2-4 & 6-8 on Thursday, November 29.
