Hazel Eileen Reeves (nee Mitchell), age 87, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, November 25th at Lorien of Bel Air.
Mrs. Reeves was born in Washington County, Virginia; she was the daughter of the late Arthur Nelson Mitchell and Carrie Bell Holmes Mitchell.
She was a graduate of Bel Air High School. Mrs. Reeves worked as an executive secretary for the Department of the Army at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Edgewood Area for 46 years. She received numerous awards during her career and retired in 1993.
Mrs. Reeves loved family events and entertaining. She greatly enjoyed traveling, cooking, embroidery, music and singing, crossword puzzles, and reading.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Fletcher Ernest Reeves, of Lancaster, South Carolina.
Mrs. Reeves is survived by her daughters, Donna Vowinkel of Anza, California, and Karen Hafer of White Hall, Maryland; and by her son, Richard Reeves of Port St. Joe, Florida; two grandchildren, Jason Vowinkel of Simi Valley, California, and Carrie Sullivan of Port Crane, New York; and four great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will honor Mrs. Reeves at the family owned Evans Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services – Bel Air, 3 Newport Drive (Rts. 23 & 24 – Forest Hill) on Thursday, November 29th from 4-6. A family graveside service will be held at Deer Creek Methodist Church Cemetery.
