Garland "Marty" has won his long battle with depression and now rests peacefully with his Heavenly Father. He joins his mother and father, Garland L. Sr and Gladys E (nee Raver). He crossed over from this life on Saturday morning, June 23, 2012. He was loved by all who knew him, his brother, George Raver Martin, and sisters, Vivian Brooks, Delma Blackwell, Nadine Knight and Karen Doherty. He taught Mathematics in the Baltimore County School System for seventeen years. Garland was a man of deep faith and read his Bible daily. He was a knowledgeable person and gave of himself freely. He has struggled for thirty five years but has now found peace.

A memorial service will be held at Bethesda United Methodist Church-at a later date.
